Sheep, chickens, ducks and such in the Waitsfield, Mad River Valley, Vermont
Always watching, thinking, dreaming and creating on Stowell Farm
This taken by my neighbor, Janis. Thank you! Lovely.
Thanks to Hannah, we've had Gracie on the farm for a few months. She's totally a part of the crew..but is also a broody lady. She's built a beautiful nest and has tended it daily. Who knows if we'll see ducklings before the snow falls. The nest, is a beautiful work of art.
Thistle and Lila (yearlings), and Mary and Lamb (just a bit older) are four beautiful ladies who will go to Jim McRae (Vermont Sheep Shearer) for a new, wonderful and prosperous home. Our lambing rates have always been high...with lovely young sheep personalities to boot. Good luck Jim...I will miss these ladies, but I'm sure they'll produce well for you. On top of it, they have great spirits. And the "double top?" ... Well, they will be with you. Thank you. (Anyone note the duck in the background? Ducks and sheep are a good thing.)
I went to close the lower field...and was not alone. These guys make me happy. We love apples.
Grey is in front, Clover behind..followed by Jane, Don, Fro, Cowboy, Superhero, Lamb, Mary, Hazel, Cecilia, Cosmos, Planet, Orb, Lila, Thistle, Lightening, Helmet, Chester, ... I love them all. Sheep are so special.
Welcome to Stowell Farm. This site tells and shows a bit about the many things we do on this amazing property on the East Warren Road in the Mad River Valley.
